Asphalt 8: Airborne, a follow-up to its popular predecessor Asphalt All-Stars, is set to be released in September or October. The game is being developed by the award-winning studio, Gameloft.

The thing that really bugs me about Asphalt 8: Airborne on the iPhone is its uncanny similarities to several well established racing video games. Both make heavy use of cel shading, which looks amazing on a high definition iPhone screen, but suffers a bit when trying to make the game look good on an iPad.
It also has poor performance on the iPhone, especially during loading screens. However, these things aside, the reality is that Asphalt 8 on the iPad is an excellent gaming experience with some nice touch screen controls and an all-around nice graphics package. If you’re an iOS user looking for an enhanced version of your old favorite racing video game – this is definitely one to consider.
