Story – Hey Love Tim
Hey, Love Tim is a dating simulation video game developed by Popcap Games and published by Waypoint Software. The game was released in 2021 and was one of the more popular retro games that year, contributing to the growth of indie gaming on consoles such as the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS.
The game follows a young man who is thrown into a top secret military experiment after his plane crashes. There he must prove his own innocence or risk going to prison. A release without the voice of its protagonist, Michael “Tim” Bracken, would’ve been a major let down for hardcore Tim fans.
While you can play Hey Love Tim 2.1.16 using the Game Boy Advance version, the players that wanted the full graphical experience had to buy the Gamecube version. The time travel element of Hey Love Tim 2 is what really gets me going. I loved the chance to return to a previous point in history and experience Tim’s past. The whole concept of time travel is relatively new to me, and having the opportunity to play as part of America’s History Museum crew was a wonderful idea.
What better way to relive a history lesson than relive it through video game? Tim and Alex travel back to 1776, where they meet their adventures in this alternate universe. During their time traveling, they also get to revisit numerous historical events and situations, including The War of 1812 and the infamous “Red Scare” that happened in today’s political climate.
In terms of actual time travel, you can do a number of things in the game. You can run through an open field with a gun to shoot down Time Soldiers. You can also escape from the museum and take on the facility’s guards while you make your way around.
Graphics and Visual Quality
If you find yourself needing to defend yourself, you can use objects found around the level to help you defend yourself. You can also jump between multiple eras and jump ahead to see new things, or just go back to the present to see old scenes from various eras.
When you’re not playing the game, you can watch it on the television, which is refreshing since many video games these days don’t let you play while you’re playing them. The controls are fairly simple, with each of them having their own unique traits.
There are lighthearted characters throughout history who will try to stop you from playing Hey Love Tim 2. Of course, no one really stops you from playing the game, but there are a number of characters who try to stop you from playing the game as well. It’s nice to have support characters in video games, especially when it comes to time travel stories.
I enjoyed playing Hey Love Tim 2 despite the many technical flaws. The overall story line is interesting and entertaining. The action may get a bit repetitive at times, but it never gets old. The graphics are clean and fairly simplistic, but don’t sacrifice quality for graphics.
